Confidentiality Limits

I take your privacy seriously. Confidentiality has limits in certain circumstances, including::

• Abuse Reporting: Suspected or disclosed abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.
• Safety Concerns: Imminent risk of severe harm to yourself or someone else.
• Legal Mandates: Valid court orders or legal requirement.

I occasionally consult with professional colleagues who are subject to professional and ethical obligations. I take precautions to protect your privacy by minimizing identifying information where practicable.

Scope of Practice

Reaching out or attending a consultation doesn't mean we have officially started therapy together.

My practice is focused specifically on anxiety and related concerns. Because of this, I may not always have the skill set for every situation. If your concerns fall outside of this scope, or if I feel another provider would be a better fit, I can provide referrals to help connect you with appropriate care.

Consultation and Initial Contact Notes

I take brief notes during initial contacts and consultation calls to satisfy professional legal and ethical standards. These notes are retained for at least seven years from the last date of contact. Relevant communications may also be retained as necessary. I will not use your information for marketing purposes.

Technology & Security

I use trusted third-party cloud providers to communicate with you and to store records. Some of these services store or handle information outside Japan. While no electronic system is 100% risk free, I use industry-standard safeguards designed to protect your data.

Location of Consultations

To protect both of our privacy and ensure an appropriate setting, I ask that you be physically located in Japan and in a private space where others can't see or hear us during the consultation.

If you will be relocating to Japan soon, you are still welcome to contact me with questions about my services.

Cancellations and Reschedules

Please provide 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation call so the time can be offered to others.

I may change the terms of this notice at any time. This notice is effective September 15, 2026
